This programme is a specialized track of the 1-year full-time Master’s in Human Geography at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, University of Amsterdam. The Digital Economic Geography track explores technological, ecological and geopolitical changes in global production networks, emphasizing the impact of digitalization on commerce, resource flows, and global inequalities. It uniquely combines advanced fieldwork abroad (such as research in Barcelona), rigorous training in qualitative, quantitative, and spatial analysis (including GIS), and critical perspectives such as Marxism, feminism, and post-structuralism. Students complete core coursework, restricted electives, and a substantial thesis project with options for geographic fieldwork. Graduates develop skills required for careers in the public sector, private industry, civil society, and international organizations.
