The Master of Engineering in Bioengineering at the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Engineering is an interdisciplinary program integrating engineering, life sciences, and medicine. Established in response to the needs of an aging population and the need to extend healthy lifespans, the department develops future leaders in innovative medical systems through research and education across mechanobioengineering, bioelectronics, biodevices, chemical bioengineering, biomaterials, and bioimaging. The curriculum requires the completion of over 30 credits, with compulsory and elective courses spanning six core fields, rigorous experimental work, and a thesis. The program emphasizes the interaction between the human body, materials, and systems, and seeks to produce globally oriented, ethical, and independently minded engineers and researchers.
