The Master's Degree in Advanced Studies in Art History at the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Geography and History is a one-year, 60-credit program. It features two specializations: one focuses on historiography and advanced art history methodologies, while the other explores professional roles in art collecting (e.g., museums, foundations), the art market (galleries, fairs, auctions), and art dissemination (education, publishing, media). The program is taught in Catalan and Spanish, prepares graduates for doctoral studies, and is suited for those aiming for scholarly or professional work in art history, criticism, or cultural management. Admission requires a university degree (preferably in art history or related humanities, architecture, design, social sciences, or biological/environmental sciences with relevance to museums/cultural heritage). Candidates with equivalent international degrees may be invited for an interview. Pre-enrolment for 2025-2026 is open. Fees are approximately 19.37 euros/credit for EU residents, 82 euros/credit for non-EU residents.
