The MSW program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work is rooted in an advanced generalist practice framework and emphasizes field education, evidence-based practice, respect for diversity, and social justice. While there is not an official 'Named Option' in LGBTQIA2S+ studies, students may specialize through elective courses (such as SOC WORK 639: Social Work Practice with LGBTQIA2S+ Individuals and Communities) and field placements focused on LGBTQIA2S+ issues. The curriculum prepares students to affirmatively serve LGBTQIA2S+ populations, critically evaluate interventions, and apply inclusive social work practices. Graduates are equipped to lead in advocacy, policy, clinical, or community settings serving LGBTQIA2S+ people.
