The Master of Social Work (MSW) program at the Sandra Rosenbaum School of Social Work, University of Wisconsin–Madison, is grounded in an advanced generalist practice framework, focusing on ethical, evidence-based professional practice and social justice. Students may choose to focus on social work in American Indian communities through relevant electives, such as SW 636 Social Work in American Indian Communities: The Indian Child Welfare Act, which explores social work roles and services in tribal communities, compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act, and the historical and contemporary context of American Indian social welfare. The MSW prepares graduates for leadership roles and effective practice with diverse populations in various human service settings. The program integrates field education and a curriculum promoting respect for diversity, human rights, and advocacy for social, economic, and environmental justice.
