The Master of Genetic Counselor Studies (MGCS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is an intensive, 21-month graduate program that prepares students for careers as genetic counselors. The curriculum integrates advanced coursework in human, molecular, and medical genetics with training in counseling skills and diverse, hands-on clinical practicums. Students develop skills in patient care, data collection, interviewing, and health communication, and may choose specialized tracks including a dual MGCS/MPH degree. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling.
