The Elementary Education and Special Education (EESE) BSE at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is a unique dual-licensure program preparing students for careers teaching in both general (K-9, including 4K) and special education (K-12, through age 21) classrooms. The program, housed in the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education, is rooted in promoting equity, inclusivity, and accessibility. It features a rigorous four-semester sequence with integrated coursework, practicum, and student teaching, providing extensive hands-on experience in real school settings. Graduates are trained to identify and address learning barriers, create individualized education programs, and promote academic and social-emotional development for all students.
