Penn State Dickinson Law’s LL.M. is a flexible, rigorous graduate law program designed to provide a high-level understanding of the U.S. legal system. It welcomes internationally trained legal professionals as well as U.S. law graduates and offers optional concentrations, including Criminal Law, at the University Park location. The program requires a minimum of 24 credits and can be completed full-time over one academic year, with the option to extend to a third semester for experiential learning or bar exam preparation. Students study alongside J.D. candidates and may specialize by completing 9 credits in required/elective courses within a concentration such as Criminal Law. The curriculum includes foundational legal research, legal writing, and introduction to the U.S. legal system, along with electives in fields like criminal law, criminal procedure, and related subjects. The program prepares LL.M. graduates for specialization in U.S. Criminal Law and offers the courses needed to sit for the New York bar examination.
