The Bachelor of Science in Art Education at Penn State's College of Arts and Architecture is designed to prepare knowledgeable, skilled, and creative leaders who teach social and environmental justice in educational contexts such as PK-12 schools, community settings, and cultural institutions. Students learn to use creativity and critical responses to engage learners and promote positive change. The program includes hands-on field experiences in PK-12 schools and community programs, culminating in a semester-long student teaching experience. Graduates are eligible for Pennsylvania Instructional I Art teacher certification and can pursue careers as educators in schools, museums, and other cultural organizations. Many majors also dual-degree with the BFA in studio art or related areas.
