The Middle Level Education, B.S. at The Pennsylvania State University prepares graduates to teach all subjects in grades 4–6 and a chosen concentration—English, Mathematics, or Social Studies—in grades 7–8. The program emphasizes developing both subject-specific content knowledge and pedagogical skills for teaching young adolescents (grades 4–8). It incorporates three field experiences, culminating in a full-time student teaching placement. Graduates meet all coursework and field experience requirements for Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Instructional I Certification and are prepared for related teacher certification exams. Accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and reviewed by the American Middle Level Association (AMLE). The program focuses on equity, inclusivity, and preparing teachers for modern, diverse classroom challenges.
