The World Languages (K-12) Education B.S. at Penn State prepares students to teach languages—French, German, Latin, Russian, and Spanish—from Pre-K through 12th grade. The program combines language proficiency coursework, educational methods, and field experiences. All candidates complete significant language studies beyond the intermediate level and participate in an approved semester-long Education Abroad program, typically in the sixth semester. Completion may enable graduates to qualify for teacher certification in their language of emphasis, as well as the Pennsylvania Program Specialist: ESL credential with additional coursework. As of April 25, 2024, the program is on enrollment hold; it is not currently accepting new students for 2025.
