Penn State's Bachelor of Science in Surveying Engineering (B.S.) is a four-year undergraduate program that prepares students for professional practice in the surveying and geospatial fields, integrating applied mathematics, science, and surveying principles. The curriculum is focused on collecting and analyzing field data, creating maps and engineering drawings, and applying high-precision technologies like drones, GPS/GNSS, LiDAR, photogrammetry, and robotic total stations. Students develop technical and professional skills, ethical and team-based competencies, communication abilities, and expertise in modern surveying software and instrumentation. Graduates are equipped for careers as surveyors, engineers, or managers in diverse environments, and are encouraged towards licensure and ongoing professional development. Penn State Wilkes-Barre offers Pennsylvania’s only such 4-year program, recognized for excellence in 2025 by the NCEES.
