The BA in Jewish Studies at the College of the Liberal Arts, The Pennsylvania State University, is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that provides broad inquiry into the history, culture, society, literature, philosophy, politics, language, and religious beliefs of the Jewish people from Biblical times to the present. The curriculum stresses critical thinking and global engagement, requiring a total of 30 credits in the major—at least 15 of which must be at the advanced (400-level) courses. Courses include an introduction to Jewish Civilization, studies spanning from ancient to modern periods, and diaspora. Students are encouraged to pursue internships, study abroad (including in Israel), and archaeological fieldwork, with the opportunity to apply related credits. The program prepares students for diverse careers or further study in Jewish Studies.
