The Undergraduate Undecided Major Program (Division of Undergraduate Studies, DUS) at Penn State allows students to start their studies without declaring a specific major. Students can explore various academic fields, take courses across disciplines, and receive one-on-one academic advising for up to four full-time semesters. Advisers guide students through course selection, academic planning, career exploration, and help with the process of entering a degree-granting major. The program is designed for students who are unsure of their academic and career goals and want to make a well-informed choice before declaring a major. During this time, students work closely with advisers to ensure progress toward graduation while exploring their options. After the exploratory period, students must enter a degree-granting major once they meet Penn State entrance-to-major criteria.
