The University of Victoria’s Master of Arts in History offers several streams, including a one-year project-based MA, a two-year thesis-based MA, and a 20-month MA in Public History. The program focuses on advanced historical research, theory, and methodology, and offers special strengths in Indigenous and public history as well as hands-on, community-engaged research. Students select either an intensive research thesis or a major research paper (MRP) and can also pursue a concentration in Cultural, Social and Political Thought (CSPT). Students benefit from work-integrated learning, professional networking, and opportunities to engage with digital history and new media.
