The MFA in Studio Art at the University of Guelph’s College of Arts is a two-year (four-semester) full-time graduate program designed to develop professional studio practice and contemporary critical awareness. The program emphasizes independent studio work, interdisciplinary and media-specific practices, and integrates courses in art theory, criticism, history, and pedagogy. Students receive individual faculty guidance, group seminars, and participate in studio critiques each semester. Program completion requires a thesis exhibition, supporting paper, and oral exam. Graduates are trained as artists and artist-teachers, developing both their creative and academic expertise. Funding support is offered for each semester of required enrolment.
