The Bio-Convergence (BC) major at Yonsei University’s Underwood International College (UIC) is designed for students seeking interdisciplinary expertise at the intersection of biological science, engineering, and real-world application. Courses cover biochemistry, systems biology, biotechnology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, with an emphasis on both laboratory research and the societal impact of science (such as policy and regulatory affairs). The curriculum prepares students for careers as global leaders in pharmaceuticals, biotech, cosmetics, and healthcare sectors, as well as in regulatory affairs, patent law, technology transfer, intellectual property, and business consulting. Students must submit a completed thesis before graduation, typically under the supervision of faculty from departments related to chemistry, biomedicine, systems biology, or pharmacy.
