BSocSc Crime Science is Hong Kong's only UGC-funded undergraduate programme focusing on the interdisciplinary science of crime prevention, investigation techniques, and the social implications of crime. The programme integrates scientific theories, methods, and strategies to prevent various types of crimes—including local and transnational criminal activity, from residential burglaries to cybercrime. Students learn to apply qualitative and quantitative research methods, analyze the impact of social, technological, and environmental changes, and devise practical solutions for crime reduction and upholding public safety. Graduates acquire broad knowledge in criminology and sociology, professional competence for roles in policing, security services, correctional services, conflict resolution, research, and social analysis, with strong emphasis on innovation and societal development.
