The Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, University of Toronto, is a nationally accredited, studio-intensive program designed to prepare leaders capable of addressing contemporary challenges such as climate change, urbanization, ecological resilience, social equity, and cultural reconciliation. Students complete a four-term core curriculum exploring comprehensive training in design, history, theory, technology, and environmental studies, culminating in an independent thesis studio. The program supports and encourages interdisciplinary research and opportunities to link landscape architecture to the humanities, environmental and social sciences, and engineering. Students with relevant prior education may be considered for ‘advanced standing’, shortening the program duration to two years.
