The MPH in Black Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, is the world’s first graduate program specifically dedicated to Black Health. Launched with its inaugural cohort graduating in 2025, this two-year program is designed to prepare public health professionals to understand Black public health issues in depth, including the impact of anti-Black racism, inter-generational relationships, maternal health, chronic and infectious diseases, and structural determinants of health. The curriculum integrates contributions from Black elders and leverages Black literature and theory to equip graduates with the practical and cultural competencies needed to address health disparities, foster resilience, and advocate for equitable care. Graduates are prepared to improve health outcomes for Black communities in Canada and globally.
