The OISE Master of Teaching (MT) at the University of Toronto is a professional graduate program designed to prepare future teachers for Ontario schools. Over two years of full-time study, students complete coursework in curriculum, educational theory, and practice, participate in seminars, and undertake three supervised practice teaching experiences. The program offers specializations in Primary/Junior (JK–Grade 6), Junior/Intermediate (Grades 4–10), or Intermediate/Senior (Grades 7–12) divisions, leading to recommendation for the Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification. Students engage in research, academic conferences, and professional development, benefiting from a curriculum that emphasizes equity, inclusion, ethics, and practical skills. Admission requires a bachelor's degree with mid-B standing (U of T equivalent), relevant teaching subject prerequisites, statements of teaching experience and insight, and a resume charting relevant experiences. Additional requirements apply to certain divisions, including subject prerequisites and police record checks for placements.
