The Master of Science in Smart Ocean Technology at the University of Macau is designed to train graduates in the principles and advanced techniques of ocean information and data acquisition, big data science, underwater acoustics and imaging, underwater communication, and ocean sensors. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical application—students learn to apply their skills to marine equipment R&D, marine observation and forecasting, and marine management tasks. Graduates will be equipped to work in marine observation, monitoring, research, and high-tech marine industries. The program requires the completion of 30 credits, consisting of core modules such as Ocean Remote Sensing, Introduction to Oceanography, Physical Oceanography, Database and Data Mining Technologies, a project report or internship, and electives like Ocean Acoustics, Marine Robotics, Machine Learning in Ocean Science, and more.
