The Master of Science in Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences (MEES) at the University of Maryland is an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional graduate program designed to train students whose research interests involve interactions between biological, physical and chemical systems in marine, estuarine, freshwater, or terrestrial environments. The curriculum balances discipline-specific training with interdisciplinary coursework across four foundational areas: Environment and Society, Earth and Ocean Sciences, Ecological Systems, and Environmental Molecular Science and Technology. Students customize their studies under the guidance of faculty advisors, selecting electives and professional development courses tailored to their research interests. The program provides access to faculty and resources from multiple universities and institutions across Maryland, as well as opportunities for research assistantships and funding.
