The Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Maryland College Park (College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences) is an academically-based, clinically-oriented program designed to prepare professional speech-language pathologists. The program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) and fulfills academic and practicum requirements for the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). It consists of comprehensive coursework (35 credits) and clinical training (13 credits), including three semesters in the university clinic and two semesters of off-campus externships. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice, exposure to diverse clinical populations, research integration, and hands-on experiences. Graduates are eligible for state licensure and ASHA certification.
