The University of Maryland College Park's Bioengineering graduate program, offered by the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the A. James Clark School of Engineering, is designed to develop future leaders and innovators in the rapidly growing bioengineering sector. The program integrates engineering, biology, and medicine, focusing on molecular and cellular bioengineering, medical devices, diagnostic systems, biomaterials, tissue engineering, biomechanics, drug delivery, biosensors, and more. Students pursue either a Master of Science (M.S.)—typically research/thesis-based, or a Master of Engineering (M.Eng)—typically course-based and available online or in-person. Graduates gain the skills to design technologies and systems aimed at improving human health and addressing urgent medical and biological challenges.
