The Bachelor of Arts in Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland College Park is designed to provide students with foundational and advanced knowledge in human communication processes including the nature and treatment of disorders of speech, language, and hearing across the lifespan. The major enables students to explore these disciplines through coursework in basic sciences, anatomy, physiology, statistics, research labs, and clinical observations. Graduates are prepared for further study in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, or related graduate programs. The program consists of at least 33 credits of HESP major courses and 12 credits of supporting coursework. Advising is mandatory each semester due to important course sequencing. International students benefit from high-quality faculty, interactive curricula, modern facilities, and experiential learning.
