UC San Diego's Political Science BA/BS program is one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus, offering both a general major and eight areas of concentration. The program addresses core societal issues such as world peace, economic policy, democracy, law, and inequality, with systematic training in theory and analytical skills. Students select either the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, with BA concentrations including American politics, comparative politics, international relations, political theory, public law, public policy, and race, ethnicity, and politics; the BS concentration is in Data Analytics. All majors require at least sixteen courses: POLI 30 (Political Inquiry), three foundational courses (from POLI 10, 11, 12, 13), and twelve upper-division courses, some specialty concentrations mandate further thematic and regional coursework. The curriculum incorporates applied, hands-on learning opportunities, professional development workshops, and connections to graduate studies or diverse careers.
