According to NYU’s Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies (MEIS) graduate bulletin, the department offers a PhD with tracks in Islamic Studies, Literature, or Culture and Representation, and explicitly notes it has no MA program and does not offer that degree; students seeking an MA should apply to the Kevorkian Center’s terminal MA in Near Eastern Studies. Therefore, a GSAS Master of Arts in “Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies” is not offered as a standalone program; the closest MA option is the Kevorkian Center’s Near Eastern Studies (MA), which collaborates closely with MEIS and draws faculty across NYU to study the region’s histories, politics, economies, religions, cultures, and languages from North Africa to Central Asia.
