NYU’s MA in Archives and Public History (offered in the Department of History, Graduate School of Arts & Science) provides a strong grounding in historical scholarship, intensive engagement with digital technologies, and project‑based learning using New York City’s archival and public history institutions. Students choose a concentration in either Archives or Public History. Core components include introductory coursework by concentration, advanced archival/public history methods, a required Internship Seminar with 120 hours of supervised project work, capstone preparation and research, one required digital course (e.g., Creating Digital History, Digital Archives), plus electives drawn from APH, History, Museum Studies, MIAP, and approved partners (e.g., Columbia’s Oral History MA). The program also offers Advanced Certificates (20 credits) for students who already hold an MA, and a dual MA/MLIS with LIU’s Palmer School located at NYU’s Bobst Library.
