NYU Grossman School of Medicine, in partnership with NYU Stern School of Business, offers a dual MD/MBA designed to train physicians to lead in the business of medicine and improve patient care and outcomes. The program equips students with management, finance, data analysis, and communication skills applicable to physician practices, hospital units, and healthcare organizations. Career paths include medical director, pharmaceutical consultant, healthcare agency director, private practice manager, or business owner. The dual curriculum counts portions of the MD curriculum toward the MBA so that students earn both degrees in four years instead of five; the MBA portion is 51 credits versus the 60-credit standalone MBA. The typical sequence is: Years 1–2 at Grossman (preclerkship and clerkship), Year 3 at Stern (full-time MBA fall/spring), summer before Year 4 back to medical school through fall, and final MBA semester in spring; MD is awarded in May of Year 4 and the MBA after the final semester.
