NYU Tandon’s MS in Transportation Systems (often referred to as Transportation Engineering) provides a multidisciplinary curriculum in traffic engineering, transportation planning, public transportation systems, intelligent transportation systems, and transportation economics/finance, combining theory with project-based learning and modern tools (e.g., Synchro, HCS). The program requires 30 graduate credits and culminates in either a 3-credit Transportation and Traffic Project or a 6-credit MS Thesis; students selecting the thesis complete fewer elective credits. Up to 9 credits of external electives (e.g., CUSP, Wagner, TMI) are allowed with approval. The program emphasizes quantitative analytic skills and immersion in the New York City urban mobility context, taught by faculty in areas such as urban transportation and logistics, travel behavioral informatics, and reinforcement learning for transportation.
