NYU College of Arts & Science’s Department of Psychology studies mind and behavior through multiple perspectives—cognitive (perception, memory, attention, language, thinking), social and personality (beliefs, attitudes, decisions), cognitive neuroscience (brain functions underlying mental processes), and developmental (factors across the lifespan). Undergraduate offerings emphasize the scientific basis of psychology and encourage involvement in faculty research via Research Experiences and Methods and an honors program with seminars and a senior research thesis. Graduates receive a strong academic foundation for graduate study and careers across fields such as law, business, medicine, and education.
