NYU College of Arts & Science (CAS) offers two undergraduate Physics majors: a flexible BA and a more intensive BS emphasizing additional advanced coursework and computational/experimental training. The department highlights a rigorous core, exposure to current research frontiers, and substantial opportunities for undergraduate research with faculty working across astrophysics, biophysics, cosmology, particle physics, gravitation, condensed matter, and statistical physics, leveraging departmental labs and external facilities such as CERN and major observatories. The BS requires more prescribed courses (including Computational Physics and additional advanced labs) compared to the BA, which allows one more free advanced PHYS elective. CAS bachelor’s degrees require 128 credits overall; admissions are handled centrally by NYU Undergraduate Admissions.
