NYU’s School of Global Public Health offers an undergraduate Global Public Health co-major that must be paired with a degree-granting bachelor’s program in a partner school; the Nutrition & Dietetics pairing is with Steinhardt. All GPH co-majors complete 6 public health core courses, combined-major electives, 90 hours of experiential learning/internship, and a required semester-long study away at an NYU global site; the co-major is not a standalone major. Within the GPH/Nutrition & Dietetics pairing, students study health policy, epidemiology, environmental health, food science, human physiology, diet assessment, and related topics, and complete an internship to apply learning. The program prepares graduates for roles across healthcare, community programs, health departments, school food service, private practice, publishing, public relations, and other nutrition/public health settings, and offers preparation for dietetic internships en route to Registered Dietitian eligibility; a dual BS–MPH in Public Health Nutrition can be completed in as little as five years.
