The MFA in Design at The Ohio State University's College of Arts and Sciences is a broad, interdisciplinary program designed to encourage research and exploration of emerging design issues. Students can choose from two tracks: Design Research and Development (DRD)—focusing on critical thinking, human-centered design, and cross-disciplinary methods; or Digital Animation and Interactive Media (DAIM)—concentrating on animation, interactive media, and technology. The curriculum spans seminars, studios, independent thesis studies, and electives, with an emphasis on creative problem-solving and research. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in design or further academic careers, with the MFA as the terminal degree recognized for college-level educators in the U.S.
