The MA in East Asian Studies at Ohio State University's College of Arts and Sciences is a two-year, interdisciplinary, terminal degree program focused on intensive language training in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, and personalized interdisciplinary study of East Asia. Leveraging the resources of a large faculty across 27 disciplines, students access robust library collections, specialized courses, and study abroad opportunities. The curriculum requires 37 graduate credits, including at least 12 credits of East Asian language study, with students choosing a geographical area (China, Japan, or Korea) and discipline of concentration. The program is suitable both for those seeking discipline-specific PhD programs and careers in government, education, non-profits, or the private sector. Students select either a thesis or non-thesis track in consultation with their advisory committee.
