The Bachelor of Science in Evolution and Ecology at Ohio State University (College of Arts and Sciences) examines the descent and interrelationships of organisms—including plants, animals, and microorganisms. It covers both the historical and mechanistic aspects of evolution (including natural selection and genetic drift) and explores ecological interactions between organisms and their environments. The curriculum includes core courses in evolution, ecology, integrated biology, advanced mathematics/statistics, and biodiversity, supplemented by supportive courses in biology, chemistry, physics, organic chemistry, calculus, and statistics. Electives and summer field courses at Stone Laboratory allow for further specialization. The program prepares students for roles in environmental consulting, research, NGOs, government agencies, education, and advanced graduate/professional studies.
