Ohio State University's Bachelor of Arts in French program, delivered by the College of Arts and Sciences, immerses students in the language, literature, history, and culture of French-speaking communities worldwide. Students develop proficiency across listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The curriculum comprises 12 credit hours of prerequisites (French 1101, 1102, 1103, 2101) and 30 credit hours at the 3000 level and above, with options to tailor studies toward personal interests. Interactive classrooms, individualized instruction, and study abroad experiences in France, Canada, and Senegal are integral. Prior instruction in French is not required, but students with prior experience must take a placement test. Participants gain cultural fluency, linguistic competence, and analytical skills applicable to diverse career paths.
