The Bachelor of Arts in History of Art at The Ohio State University's College of Arts and Sciences is devoted to the study of visual arts across global historical contexts. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum, ranging from introductory surveys to advanced research seminars, covering European, American, and Global arts, as well as art historical theory and methodology. With small classes and strong faculty-student collaboration, the program equips students with critical thinking, research, writing, and analytical skills, preparing graduates for careers in museums, arts organizations, journalism, education, non-profits, or advanced graduate study. The curriculum includes courses in different chronological and geographical areas, core methodological seminars, and a capstone research experience. Foreign language study is strongly recommended for those considering art historical careers or graduate study.
