The Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering at Ohio State University is the only accredited program of its kind in the USA. The program provides foundational knowledge in welding process technology, metallurgy, design and structural integrity, and non-destructive evaluation. The first two years cover essential engineering and science prerequisites, after which students take welding-specific courses including introduction to welding engineering, arc welding labs, welding process technology, welding metallurgy, non-destructive evaluation, and design for structural integrity. The curriculum emphasizes broad technical depth, with required coursework in related engineering fundamentals. Students benefit from internship, co-op, international, and research opportunities, and graduate prepared for roles in industry, research, and design of materials joining processes.
